Leprachauns Gold!

Billy and I were sitting on the front porch of the house talking about a rain that we had in the morning. We were still having some light showers. I asked Billy if he believed in the old saying about there being a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. He laughed and said I have never heard of any one digging one up! We sat there for a few minutes looking out over the woods in front of the house. I said to Billy “Look a rainbow!” there was no hesitation we both jumped up and started running towards the woods.

I knew what was on Billy’s mind.  I was thinking the same thing! A pot of gold at the end of the rainbow could make us rich! There were a lot of low bushes in the area as we approached the rainbow. It was so beautiful with all its colors we could see red, yellow, blue and green. You could see the colors on the trees and bushes. Billy hollered and said “Wendell we are standing at the end of the rainbow!” and we were!

We could see the colors on the ground right at our feet! By this time we were thinking about that pot of gold, we were very excited. Billy wanted us to mark the spot and we could start digging our hole in search of that pot!. We reached in our pockets and grabbed our Buck knifes and started cutting the tops off the bushes so we would know exactly where to dig. We were so excited talking to each other about the gold we knew were going to find. We were going to be rich Boys “country style”!

As we stood there cutting off the tops of the bushes we noticed that something was happening with the rainbow. It was moving! We looked at each other with a grin on our faces and then started laughing.  We then decided that there may be an end at the end of the rainbow, but you have to be there when it first forms. Or would it  be at the end just before it disappears that you could find that Pot of Gold…. What do you think?

This story is as true as my old red rooster crowing in the early morning and as you know roosters crow every morning.
